What is sake kasu?

Sake kasu, or sake lees, is the by-product of the sake-making process. After sake is pressed, a creamy rice paste remains that is rich in healthy enzymes, probiotics, umami flavours, and even protein. It is a super versatile ingredient that can be used for cooking a wide range of foods.

How long can the cake be kept for?

It can be stored for 3 days in the fridge. If you choose to freeze the cake, defrost it in the fridge one day before eating.

What's the best way to eat this cake?

To get a gooey, melty centre, leave it out at room temperature for 30 to 60 mins before serving. or a firmer bite, eat it straight out of the fridge.

Do you have a physical shop?

We are a home-based business that accepts online preorders. However, we do pop up occasionally at fairs or markets. Follow our Instagram for updates on our next appearance.

Do you sell other flavours or sizes?

We sell a standard 7-inch cake in one original flavour. Thinking of expanding our size range - stay tuned!
